ABB has recently finished work with Jet Propulsion Lab to finalize completion of the etch process for the flight hardware on the new Mars Science Lab. Liftoff is scheduled for August, 2009. The etch process has proven itself with the succesfull landing of Phoenix Mars lander in May of this 2008.
ABB will team up again with more areospace companies in december 2008 to develop and implement the etching process for the next unmanned spacecraft. It will contain even more etched components than both the phoenix mars lander and the mars science lab.
