ABB Etch is a small personalized company founded in 1999 by two former Associates of W.L. Gore of Flagstaff, Arizona, Jaimie Irwin and John Tanner. Both were responsible for all aspects of Gore's Tetra-Etch Etchant Manufacturing and Etching Divisions from 1996 to 1999.

In 1999, after W.L. Gore dismantled their Etching Service Division, Irwin and Tanner formed their own company, ABB Etching Services Company. They started their business with over ten years of combined experience in the manufacturing and etching processing of fluropolymers. In 2003, Tanner left the business and it was then changed to ABB Etch Company with Jaimie Irwin as sole proprietor and handling full operations of the company. ABB Etch's customer base then and continuing through present includes aerospace, government, automotive, computer industries and NASA. The company maintains high quality, quick turnaround, custom and personalized etching services for their customers.

In 2005, ABB began manufacturing ABB-918 Etchant used for internal and manufacturing processes. ABB-918 Etchant is the strongest and most reliable on the market and is known in the industry for achieving impeccable bond strengths. These exceptional bonding strengths have been successfully used by ABB Etch in the etching of the Phoenix Lander which landed on Mars June, 2008 and completed July, 2008, etching service on the Mars Science Lab to be launched in 2009.
